1 What this app is – and isn't

Audrey's Dex records dog barks, reads the mood behind them, and "decodes" them into playful English, plus a camera-based breed field guide. Every translation is a best read of a mood, for entertainment – never a transcript, a diagnosis, or professional advice. Do not rely on it for the health, training, safety, or behaviour of any animal. If your dog needs help, see a qualified veterinarian or behaviourist.

2 Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms and the rules of the store you installed it from. You may not copy, resell, rent, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the app's models or source except where the law expressly permits it. The app, its name, artwork, and the Dog FM identity remain ours.

3 The free band

The core of the app is free and stays free: teaching your dog's station, OFFLINE mode, and every honesty readout are never gated. The free band includes a daily allowance of decodes and photo IDs that recharges each day on our server clock. OFFLINE-mode decodes never touch our server and are never metered.

4 The PREMIUM BAND subscription

What it is: an optional auto-renewing subscription that banks a monthly allowance – currently 250 decodes and 60 photo IDs per calendar month, with no daily cap – plus high-fidelity broadcast features.

Length & price: offered as a monthly plan (currently approximately US$2.99 / month) or an annual plan (currently approximately US$19.99 / year). The exact price, currency, and billing period are always shown to you in the app at the moment of purchase, localized by your store.

Auto-renewal: the subscription automatically renews at the then-current price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID or Google account settings; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the current period ends.

Billing: payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account. We never see or store your card or store-account details.

5 Top-up cells (one-time purchases)

Power Cell, Battery Pack, and Long-Range Booster are one-time, non-subscription purchases that add decode and photo-ID credits. These credits stack on top of your band, spend only after the band runs dry, and never expire. Because they are consumable digital goods delivered immediately, they are non-refundable except where the law or your store's policy requires otherwise.

6 No accounts, and how purchases restore

Audrey's Dex has no accounts, logins, or emails. Your subscription is tied to your store account: reinstall or switch phones and you restore it with Restore Purchases in the app. Top-up credit balances ride your device's own backups (iCloud / Google) via an anonymous device token. A clean install on a brand-new device restores your subscription through the store, but may not carry unspent top-up credits.

7 Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple or Google. Refund requests are handled under their policies (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com; Google: the Play Store) – we cannot issue store refunds directly, though you're always welcome to contact us.

8 Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully and as intended. Don't try to break, overload, or circumvent the fair-use limits, the metering, or the purchase system; don't misuse the server or interfere with other operators. We may suspend access that abuses these terms.

9 Store terms also apply

For purchases and downloads made through the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies and, where it conflicts with these terms for those purchases, governs. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the app; for App Store distribution, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries entitled to enforce them. Purchases on Google Play are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.

10 Privacy

How we handle data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: your data lives on your phone, there are no accounts or tracking, and the server decodes what you send and forgets it.

11 No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't promise the decodes are accurate (they're for fun), that breed IDs are correct, or that the service is uninterrupted or error-free.

12 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence). Where liability can be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13 Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version is posted at this address with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14 Governing law & contact

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your country of residence. Questions? Mail [email protected].
